Kids Say the Darndest Things

I'm sure alot of people have seen this before but I just rediscovered it and still think it's one of the greatest quote compilations ever.

http://www.1funny.com/kidslove.shtml

It's a list of quotes about love and marriage taken from kids ages 4-10.
Here are some of my favorites if you don't feel like reading them all:

"Once I'm done with kindergarten, I'm going to find me a wife!" -Bert, 5

"Love is the most important thing in the world, but baseball is pretty goodtoo." -Greg, age 8

"Tell your wife that she looks pretty even if she looks like a truck." Ricky, age 10

Sometimes I Call Him Evil Knieval

Today everyone in my house left by 7:30am.

Bob and I got home at 6:15pm.

Bob saw a clump o' Sugar's hair on the ground and wondered why it was there. Upon further investigation, he realized that that clump of hair was actually a dried up, nasty version of my incredibly wonderful and loyal beta fish! His name is David Beckham (Becks for short) and he has lived wayyyy longer than any other beta fish in history. Ever.

Naturally, I was quite sad but Sugar wanted to eat Becks so I had to hold her back while Bob got a piece of paper to scoop Becks up and return him to his natural habitat (the sewage system?). As Bob started to maneuver him onto the paper he LEAPT INTO THE AIR!!! BECKS WAS ALIVE!!!

Pretty sure Bobby had to change his pants after that little scare but I was excited so it was worth it (to me at least). I screamed and Bob dropped Becks into his fish bowl after a frantic scramble to get a cup (Becks isn't cooperative enough to grasp the concept of laying still on the paper).

He may have been covered in dog hair and probably suffered significant brain damage from the 4 foot fall from the breakfast bar but he was alive and swimming! Hopefully still is....

Guess we'll see in the morning.

But seriously...do I have the most badass fish in history or what?

Anyways, Bob keeps suggesting we get a netting to cover the top of his bowl. I'm thinking he probably just misses me while I'm at work and once he gets used to the schedule he'll drop all these suicidal tendencies.

**This is Becks in his school setting. He enjoys soccer and swimming and constantly trying to convince me he's dead.**

I'm a Big Girl Now

Not much has changed since I got home other than the color of my bathroom and the clutter in my closet: my hair still has paint in it and my parents still don't understand the concept of air conditioning. I have started my internship with Emory Healthcare Human Resources though so my portfolio is kicking into gear. I even got a name badge and parking key card. The security guards wave to me as I swipe my badge to get into the building. I am so legit.

Going Green

So I'm back to my American life and getting stuff done! Today I painted my bathroom AND made a shower curtain from scratch AND hung stuff on the wall. I also headbutted the wall while the paint was wet and 8 hours and a shower later my hair is still green. I am a domestic goddess.

Nom nom nom

I'm home and alive and already missing Morocco. Especially my family, it was brutal saying bye to Nadia outside the ALC on Tuesday. We were all blubbering messes. Good news is that now that I have a good internet connection and I'm on my computer I can put up more pictures on old blogs and in new ones.
Here's an idea of the food in Morocco:**Kabobs, bread & tea (duh) and "salad"-green beans, tomatoes, silantro**
**COUSCOUS!!! They have it every Friday lunch and it takes all morning to prepare. They put buttermilk in their own portions of it. The vegetables are so good.**
**My breakfast every morning. Getting an idea of the amount of bread we ate?**
**The closest thing I can compare this to is cornmeal. There's a little bowl of butter in the middle.**
**Kinda like grits. Then bread and jams.**
**Cool simply because they're in Arabic.**
**We had these in the Jamaalfana. It's kinda like a wrap but the chicken is something special. Can't really remember. Basically it looks American.**

Spice Girls?

We got back yesterday from our five day trip to Casablanca, Rabat, and Fes.
We only stopped by Casablanca to tour the third largest mosque in the world. Major bummer thought- it was designed by a French dude like in the past 30 years and only took 6 years to build. So ya know those European cathedrals that took hundreds of years and thousands of men to lift each individual stone? Yea, not gonna find that here.

Then we headed to Rabat where pretty much the only thing I remember is that the hotel had a shower curtain and awesome water pressure. **Coast in Rabat**

Then off to Fes! Where some people actually wear Feses. Our hotel was right next to the market so we got some serious shopping done. We visited more schools and mosques and concerts. Turns out we were there when some famous music festival was there so there were all sorts of concerts going on. We went to a few of them and got to witness the few people in Morocco who drink and do drugs (definitely tourists).
**One of the little concerts we had at some guy's house**
The last night we were there I convinced Ja'afar that I needed to buy a rug so at 11pm we went out rug hunting. Turns out this market doesn't stay open as long as the medina in Marrakesh does cause there was no one around. Anyways, Ja'afar caught the attention of some random guy in the street who pointed us towards another random guy in the street who went to get his brother to open the shop so that I could buy a rug. Again, the hospitality here is astounding. This was also the night that I got another incredible pick up line. It came from a tweenage boy walking behind us who said, "Nice ass....*pause*....Spice Girls...*pause*...Moroccan husband?"
On the 12 hour trek back to Marrakesh we stopped at an Acetic shrine. These guys are similar to monks in that they've given up all worldly possessions (including family) to focus and pray to God. We sat in the shrine and reflected for about 20 minutes and the Acetics brought us rugs to sit on to make us more comfortable and tea and cookies later on. They were happy to have us in there and did all this without us asking. It was pretty cool.
